Frequently Asked Questions
What is the minimum age and driving experience to rent a car from ETHOZ?
Any driver who is 21 years old and above with a valid driving licence recognised under Singapore Law and has a minimum of 2 years of satisfactory driving experience.
Can I rent with a foreign licence?
If you are a foreigner residing in Singapore for less than 12 months, you must provide a foreign driving licence including an International Driving Permit (IDP) issued by an authorised body from your country of origin; or an official translation of your foreign driving licence in English if an IDP is not available.
You do not need an IDP if you are a foreigner from an ASEAN member state. Only a valid foreign driving licence is required.
For foreigners residing in Singapore for more than 12 months, you are required to convert your foreign licence to a valid Singapore driving licence.
Can I drive the vehicle to Malaysia?
Driving into Malaysia is allowed subject to a daily surcharge on top of the rental depending on your rental package. For more information, please check with the sales assisting you.
Can I drive the vehicle to Thailand?
No. All ETHOZ vehicles are not allowed to be driven into Thailand.
Can I add additional drivers?
Yes. However, Hirer of ETHOZ vehicle has to ensure that the Vehicle is not operated by anyone other than those people whose particulars have been notified to and approved by ETHOZ.
Charges for additional driver may apply depending on your rental package. For more information, please check with the sales assisting you.
What do I do when the rental vehicle gets involved in an accident or breaks down?

Is fuel / charging (applicable to electric vehicles only) included in the rental package?
No. Vehicle will be released to the hirer in full tank fuel/fully charged battery. The hirer is required to return the vehicle back to ETHOZ in the same fuel/battery level when the vehicle was released.
An administration fee will apply on top of the cost to top up the fuel tank/charge the battery if the vehicle is returned with a fuel tank/battery level lower than when the vehicle was released to the hirer.
